Collection: Umbilical

2013

Overview:

U M B I L I C A L

Our first ever collection was created in 2013 while searching for opportunities to work together. We named it Umbilical, which spoke of the connection I have with my mother Mónica Navarro, who is a wicker craftswoman.

This collection took quite some time before being presented, because it was a mutual exchange of knowledge.

This collection was responsible for showcasing my family’s trade, which was a huge responsibility. It included pieces made entirely from wicker as well as some others which represented situations we had experienced as a family.

NOTES:

This collection won the Slow Moda contes (France-Argentina)

This collection was exhibited in the Milano Dona Moda (Milan, Italy)

This collection was exhibited in the Estevez Museum (Rosario, Argentina)

This collection was exhibited in PTR Gallery (Paris, France)

Overview:

N A T A L

This collection comes as a sequel to Umbilical, the process of a birth, inspired in the idiosyncrasy of our region. It offers a slow style that combines design and craftsmanship, resulting in an avant-garde collection.

Tradition and novelty come together fusing noble materials such as wicker and its traditional techniques with morphologies and accessories that go beyond the silhouette.

It conjures images of self-assured and strong women who prioritize the sustainable.

COLECCION: MADERA SANTA

2016

Overview:

This collection was inspired by the Palo Santo tree, which can be found in the Formosa region, considered a jewel of the North or sacred wood.

Faced against the blistering heat of northern Argentina, in this collection we implemented a variety of natural fabrics such as pure cotton, cotton with natural silk and aopòi. Surely, we also included our signature wicker, copper and the collection’s protagonist, Palo Santo.

We worked alongside architect Andrea Zarza who gave life to the accessories that accompany the collection crafted out of palo santo and copper as well as wicker and copper.

To showcase the region even more and express the emotions of wood, the visual artist Teresita Gavioli (Zarza’s mother) intervened the fabric with abstract paintings.

Alongside my mother, Mónica Navarro, we challenged ourselves to take wicker to the next level and decided to use banana tree leaves to craft the small handbags.

The color palette was extracted from nature, palo santo, wicker and everything that lives in this region.

Madera Santa is a synonym of Family: design meets architecture meets art meets craftsmanship

Capsule Collection

Black Ñandu + Mauro Pesoa

This collection fuses cutting-edge materials such as composite aluminum (with a remarkable surface finish, used in the construction industry) and vegetable-tanned leather, a trademark of the Industrial designer Catalina Guzmán, in her Blackñandú brand. This collaboration with Mauro Pesoa combines fashion and craftsmanship with materials such as wicker and rattan.

Both Pesoa and Guzmán, inspired by the geographical, social, productive and cultural hub of Argentina and were moved by the identity that represents them through their colors, textures and innovative morphologies to create Alumiar (Aluminio, Mimbre, Argentina)

This melange results in products with a contemporary design worthy of competing in national and international markets.

COLECCION: BAÑADO DE ESTRELLAS

2013

Overview:

BAÑADO DE ESTRELLAS

This collection was inspired by the second largest wetland in Argentina - Bañado la Estrella (roughly translates to Star Bath) - located in the province of Formosa, just north of Las Lomitas.

An exotic flora, fauna, artistic and organic architecture inhabits it, which is what inspired this collection.

Wicker and cotton meet in an artistic embrace in order to achieve its contemporary pieces.

The collection has a variety of garments and wicker items. The pieces made of cotton from the north highlight the beauty of this region even further.

Note :

The collection was presented in New York, Puro Diseño, and has been the brand's best seller.

COLECCION: OFICIO ANCESTRAL.

2019

Overview:

OFICIO ANCESTRAL

This collection is an homage to the ancestors who used this technique thousands of years ago. It is one of the oldest arts of humanity, practiced on everything from strips or vegetable fibers, intertwining, weaving and mixing materials. These techniques were used and resignified in different parts of the world according to each place’s culture and traditions. This collection is also an opportunity to revalue and recover the trade of basketry as an infinite source of inspiration and creativity.

NOTE:

This collection was the winner of the gift edition of “Autores de moda Buenos Aires”

This collection was presented in Visa- Buenos Aires Fashion Week

COLECCION: SOLO

2021

Collection: Solo

This collection was inspired by the wicker trade and how through design, different concepts can come together. This time, we created protective garments to be used during the Covid-19 pandemic. This collection’s style is ancestral minimalism.

It portrays a before and after a pandemic that affected us all in different ways.

It speaks of the experience of self-reflection and self searching whilst being alone.

COLECCION:

CAPSULA DE ALGODON.

2022

COLECCION: ADN

2023

Collection: ADN

2023

The ADN (DNA) collection is a journey through time that connects us with our roots and invites us to further explore our identity. It was born from a profound introspection, as a response to personal struggles, the pandemic and the consequent lack of self-expression. Made up of fifteen looks crafted with ancestral techniques and noble materials such as cotton and aópoi, this collection challenges society’s prejudice through beauty and movement. From raw tones all the way to intense blue, the garments reflect the duality of stiffness and flexibility. Each piece has a digital footprint in the form of a QR code which reveals the story and meaning behind it. ADN is the perfect blend of ancestral and modern, traditional and contemporary, simple and complicated. It discovers the convergence of artificial intelligence and my mother and father’s legacy all in one unique collection.
